Lansing Board of Water and Light's 'Full Steam Ahead' Project Continues

LANSING, MI – The Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) has started construction on new phases of the 'Full Steam Ahead' project. The project aims to upgrade the underground steam energy system in downtown Lansing. A steam vault is being replaced at Capitol Ave. and Hillsdale Street beginning earlier this month and will be completed in early Summer. A new high pressure steam main will be installed along the banks of the Grand River, and in Townsend Street south of 1-496 starting in July and will be completed in November....

The Lansing Board of Water & Light is experiencing widespread outages throughout its service territory due to the wind storm As of 10:00pm Wednesday, 13,273 customers are without power with 212 wires down. More than a dozen outside line crews from across Michigan, Indiana and Iowa and a dozen outside tree crews have been brought in to help with restoration efforts. Power is expected to be restored for most BWL customers on Friday....

The Lansing Board of Water & Light is experiencing widespread outages throughout its service territory due to the strong and gusty winds. As of 4:40pm Wednesday, 16,161 customers are without power with 128 wires down. More than a dozen outside line crews from across Michigan, Indiana and Iowa and a dozen outside tree crews have been brought in to help with restoration efforts. Customers should visit the outage map for updated restoration times....
