BWL Crews Continue to Work Toward Full Restoration

The Lansing Board of Water & Light is continuing to work toward full restoration following yesterday’s wind storm. As of 2:40pm Thursday, 5,482 customers are without power with 175 wires down. BWL had more than 20,000 outages at the storm’s peak. More than a dozen outside line crews from across Michigan, Indiana and Iowa have joined BWL line crews and other workers in the field, and 24 tree crews working on restoration efforts. Customers should visit the outage map for updated restoration times. Power is expected to be restored for most BWL customers today and tomorrow.
 
The BWL apologizes to customers for any inconveniences caused by the outages and appreciates patience as crews continue to work to restore power.
 
Please stay at least 25 feet from downed lines. Intersections with traffic signals out should be treated as 4-way stops.
 
Customers who have experienced a single service outage due to mast damage are responsible to have repairs done before the BWL is able to restore power. Customers may use any of the BWL approved electrical contractors to have repairs made and payments financed interest free for 12 months. For more information, visit www.lbwl.com/outagecenter.
 
Customers should report power outages and downed lines by calling 877-295-5001. Outages can also be reported by visiting the Outage Center at www.lbwl.com/outagecenter, using the BWL Outage Center mobile app or texting “out” or “outage” to 898295 or txtbwl. Updates will also be posted on the BWL Facebook page and Twitter.
 
The next outage update will be posted at approximately 8pm tonight.
