Crews Continue Work to Restore Remaining BWL Customers Without Power

As of 3:30pm Friday, 1,453 Lansing Board of Water & Light customers are without power, with 136 wires and 4 poles down. BWL had more than 20,000 outages at the storm’s peak. Additional crews totaling nearly two dozen line crews from BWL and across Michigan, Indiana and Iowa join line spotters in the field, along with 29 tree crews working on restoration efforts today and through the night. While the BWL continues to be on track to restore power to most customers today, Friday, March 10, single customer outages will remain through the weekend.
   
Customers who have experienced a single service outage due to mast damage are responsible to have repairs done before the BWL is able to restore power. Customers may use any of the BWL approved electrical contractors to have repairs made and payments financed interest free for 12 months. Those contractors or customers who need equipment to make mast repairs can pick up necessary parts from the cul-de-sac at our Haco Customer Service Center, 1232 Haco Dr, Lansing. The parts window will be open until 10pm tonight, and throughout the weekend as necessary.
 
Please stay at least 25 feet from downed lines. Intersections with traffic signals out should be treated as 4-way stops.
 
Customers should report power outages and downed lines by calling 877-295-5001. Outages can also be reported by visiting the Outage Center, using the BWL Outage Center mobile app or texting “out” or “outage” to 898295 or txtbwl. Updates will also be posted on the BWL Facebook page and Twitter.
 
The next outage update will be sent tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, March 11.
