BWL Recognized as a Reliable Public Power Provider for Second Time

The Lansing Board of Water & Light has earned a Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) designation for the second time from the American Public Power Association for providing reliable and safe electric service. The award was presented on Monday, May 8 during the Association’s annual Engineering & Operations Technical Conference held in San Antonio, Texas.The RP3 designation, which lasts for three years, recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in four key disciplines: reliability, safety, workforce development and system improvement. Criteria include sound business practices and a utility-wide commitment to safe and reliable delivery of electricity. The BWL last earned the designation in 2014, joining more than 220 public power utilities nationwide that hold the RP3 designation....

Lansing Board of Water and Light's 'Full Steam Ahead' Project Continues

LANSING, MI – The Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) has started construction on new phases of the 'Full Steam Ahead' project. The project aims to upgrade the underground steam energy system in downtown Lansing. A steam vault is being replaced at Capitol Ave. and Hillsdale Street beginning earlier this month and will be completed in early Summer. A new high pressure steam main will be installed along the banks of the Grand River, and in Townsend Street south of 1-496 starting in July and will be completed in November....
