Dennis M. Louney is a First Ward Commissioner for the Lansing Board of Water & Light.  His term began on July 1, 2009, and ends on June 30, 2017. He serves on the Executive and Finance Committees and is an Alternate on the Human Resource Committee. Commissioner Louney is the President of DML Consulting.  A full service community and government relations consulting group. He began this business after twelve years with Delta Dental of Michigan in the same capacity. Commissioner Louney’s governmental career includes that of policy analyst and legislative assistant with the Michigan Legislature (1989-2000). Commissioner Louney holds a master’s degree from Western Michigan University and a bachelor’s degree from James Madison College, Michigan State University. His current public service work includes: Past-Chair, McLaren of Greater Lansing Healthcare Foundation Board; Lansing Economic Club member and Vice-Chair of the Meridian Area Business Association Board. He is a First-degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 7816. He is a former Parent Teachers Association President for Fairview Elementary School. Commissioner Louney was recognized by the Haslett-Okemos Rotary Club in 2008 as a Paul Harris Fellow and Business Person of the Year in 2010.  He recently received the Boy Scouts of America District Award of Merit in 2013. A 25-year resident of Lansing, Commissioner Louney is married with two children.
