1st Step plant tours

1st STEP stands for 1st School to Training & Employment Program.  This paid Work-Based Learning and Scholarship program is targeted at High School Seniors and provides an opportunity for them to, if selected, receive a "paid internship/co-op" in Michigan's largest Public Utility company.

 

Selected High School Seniors will gain:

  • Valuable work/job preparation skills
  • Technical training that supplements their classroom development
  • "Real-world" job experience in a utility/industrial setting
  • A $1,500.00 Scholarship to attend Lansing Community College (LCC) upon successful completion of the program

 

 

Program Steps:


1. Attend the 1st STEP student and Parent/Guardian Orientation.

2. Complete the 1st STEP Application and Essay.

3. Develop a working portfolio.

4. Complete Capital Area MI Works structured interview.

5. Complete the BWL interview/tour.

6. Drug test and background check for employment required.
