Sue Pemberton named BWL Director of Industrial Health and Safety
Lansing Board of Water & Light General Manager J. Peter Lark announced today that Sue Pemberton has been named the utility’s Director of Industrial Health and Safety.
“Ms. Pemberton has the knowledge, experience and vision to lead this company’s health and safety initiatives,” Lark said. “Safety is always considered Job One at the BWL. I am confident Ms. Pemberton will further this company’s ongoing mission to sustain health and safety as our top priority.”
Pemberton will be responsible for the management, development and administration of the BWL’s health and safety program. Pemberton replaces Peter Thelen, who retired as Director of Industrial Health and Safety in March.
Pemberton has more than 10 years’ experience in the health and safety field, and 20 years’ experience in environmental compliance, management and policy.
For the past two-and-a-half years, Pemberton has been an Environmental Regulatory Compliance Specialist with the BWL.
She is also a long-time member of the Board of Directors of the West Michigan Chapter of the Air & Waste Management Association, and is a member of the Michigan Clean Air Compliance Advisory Panel.
Pemberton has worked for the BWL since 2005. A resident of Mason, Pemberton is a graduate of Lyman Briggs College, Michigan State University.
The BWL is Michigan’s largest public utility and is the 30 th largest public utility in the United States.
