BWL General Manager's contract signed
A one-year employment contract was signed today by the Chairman of the Lansing Board of Water & Light’s Board of Commissioners, Frank Lain, and by BWL General Manager J. Peter Lark.
The new contract, which was approved for signing by the Board of Commissioners on July 22, calls for an annual salary of $239,000.
In a statement following the signing, Chairman Lain said:
“Peter Lark has done an exemplary job in his first year at the BWL. The company, and the community, are lucky to have someone of his caliber heading up Michigan’s largest public utility.
“Mr. Lark’s previous salary was not within the market range for General Managers of municipal utilities of similar size. After considering the market’s salary range of those utilities, from $213,110 to $293,026, the Board decided to bring Mr. Lark’s salary into that range. The new salary is still considerably less than the average market compensation.”
In a statement, Lark said: “Serving the people of Greater Lansing is a privilege, and a responsibility I do not take lightly. I am exceedingly grateful for the Board of Commissioner’s support.
“I welcome the challenge of making the BWL the most reliable, affordable and environmentally conscious utility in the State of Michigan.”
