BWL to flush water mains in
Moores River Drive area
The Lansing Board of Water & Light is scheduled to flush water mains in the area of Lansing 's Moores River Drive from August 5 through August 8.
Water main flushing is a routine procedure by the BWL to remove accumulated sediment and maintain water quality in the water distribution system. The procedure has no effect on the water's safety for drinking or other uses.
About 177 BWL customers are in the areas where the water main flushing will take place.
The general boundaries of the area to be flushed are:
Bordered on the north by Moores River Drive .
Bordered on the south by Mt. Hope Avenue .
Bordered on the east by Nottingham and onto the Lansing Country Club grounds.
Bordered on the west by Moores River Drive .
Customers may experience fluctuations in water pressure and changes in water clarity during flushing. Water will clear and pressure will return to normal shortly after each day's flushing. The procedure will take place between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Once flushing is finished for the day, customers are advised to run the cold water tap until the water runs clear.
While discolored water is safe to drink, customers may prefer to draw some tap water into a pitcher and refrigerate it the night before.
Customers in the affected area can call (517) 702-6490 with questions or concerns.
