Brandie Ekren named BWL’s General Counsel
Lansing Board of Water & Light General Manager J. Peter Lark today named Brandie Ekren as the public utility's new General Counsel.
"I am extremely pleased to name a current member of our executive staff as BWL's General Counsel," Lark said. "As our Associate Attorney, Ms. Ekren has demonstrated great dedication, teamwork and legal skills. As General Counsel, I am confident her work experience at the BWL will translate into continued excellence."
Ekren has served as the company's Associate Attorney since 2004. As Associate Attorney, Ekren has represented the company in civil lawsuits, drafted and negotiated commercial and real estate transactions and advised staff and commissioners on legal matters.
Prior to joining the BWL family in 2004, Ekren served as in-house counsel for Benefit Services at Hantz Group, Inc. in Southfield, MI., where she advised department heads and the group benefits specialist on employee laws relative to health and welfare plans.
The General Counsel position has been vacant since July 2007.
Ekren is married with a 3-year-old son, and lives in Lansing.
The Lansing Board of Water & Light is Michigan 's largest public utility, serving more than 97,000 electricity customers and more than 55,000 water customers.
