Still time to join BWL’s
Amateur Chilihead Tryouts
Chiliheads, unite!
On April 19 at the Lansing Center , the Lansing Board of Water & Light will host its first-ever Amateur Chilihead Tryouts. Finalists will go to The Main Event – the annual BWL Chili Cook-off on June 13.
The deadline for entry is April 4.
In the past, competition at the BWL Chili Cook-off was restricted to restaurants, businesses and organizations. This year, for the first time, the BWL Chili Cook-off is having an amateur division.
“Even if you don't own a restaurant or a business, you now have a chance to compete in our annual event, ” said BWL Communications Director Mark Nixon. “This event has grown and evolved, so it just makes sense to have an amateur division.”
The Amateur Chilihead Tryouts runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lansing Center on Saturday, April 19. Entrants must register (see below), pay a $25 entry fee (proceeds go to local charities) and bring a crockpot of their favorite chili to the Lansing Center . A panel of judges will decide who moves on to the big chili cook-off in June.
The deadline for entering the Amateur Chilihead Tryouts is April 4. Applications and more information on the Amateur Chilihead Tryouts can be found at the cook-off Web site, www.bwlchilicookoff.com and at the BWL Web site, www.bwl.com .
