Two Lansing residents have joined the eight-member Lansing Board of Water & Light’s governing Board of Commissioners.
The new commissioners are Marilyn Plummer and Dennis M. Louney. Their four-year terms expire in June of 2013.
“I am very pleased to have Commissioners Plummer and Louney join our Board of Commissioners,” General Manager J. Peter Lark said. “I look forward to working with them, and all commissioners, as the BWL forges a strong future befitting Michigan’s largest public utility.”
BWL Board Chair Sandra Zerkle said: “I welcome our new commissioners, and look forward to the perspectives and viewpoints they bring to our Board of Commissioners.”
Louney, a First Ward Commissioner, is the Government and Community Relations Representative for Delta Dental of Michigan. Louney’s governmental career includes that of policy analyst and legislative assistant with the Michigan Legislature (1989-2000).
He is currently the Vice-Chair of the Ingham Regional Healthcare Foundation Board, Co-Chair of the Lansing Economic Club and a member of Meridian Area Business Association Board. He is a 25-year resident of Lansing.
Plummer, an At-large Commissioner, is the Office Manager and Government Relations Consultant for Knight Consulting, Inc. of Lansing. She specializes in taxation and is a registered financial advisory representative.
Her governmental career includes that of Executive Assistant to State Senator Bill Bullard, Jr., and staff member with several Michigan Senate and Michigan House of Representatives committees.
Plummer’s is the Co-Chair of the Lansing Juneteenth Committee Celebration and a member of the Lansing’s Citizen Action Team for the South Side Community Center. She is a lifelong resident of Lansing.
