Schoolchildren to get sneak preview of
BWL-sponsored water exhibit at I-5

WHAT: A “Window on Water” exhibit that allows viewers to see a cutaway model of an underground water aquifer, the source of our clean drinking water.

WHO: Second-grade students from Holt’s Midway Elementary School. The students have been studying water, including how to conserve and protect sources of fresh water.

WHERE: Impression 5 Science Center, 200 Museum Drive, Lansing.

WHEN: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday June 3

Details:

      • The BWL is a major sponsor of “Window on Water”, which represents a cross-section of a water aquifer from which we draw our drinking water. Real water is used throughout the exhibit, with dye used to symbolize water contamination and how it spreads.
      • The exhibit’s educational goal is to impart to children the need to preserve and protect the sources of clean drinking water.
      • Funding for the exhibit comes from a Michigan Department of Environmental Quality Wellhead Protection grant.
      • The BWL wrote the wellhead protection grant and coordinated the model’s design. Eventually, the model will include a model cityscape of Lansing’s skyline.
