Portions of East Mt. Hope Avenue will close for water service work, repaving
Portions of East Mt. Hope Avenue will close for approximately two weeks, beginning Wednesday, May 6, as the Lansing Board of Water & Light updates manholes and replaces water services.
The City of Lansing will mill and repave that 7-block portion of East Mt. Hope Avenue after BWL crews have completed their work.
For several days beginning May 7, East Mt. Hope Avenue will be entirely closed between South Cedar Street and South Pennsylvania Avenue.
Cavanaugh Road is the designated detour route for traffic on South Cedar Street and South Pennsylvania Avenue. Access will be maintained for local residents and businesses.
The work should be completed by the end of the week of May 11, at which time East Mt. Hope Avenue should be fully opened to traffic.
The Lansing Board of Water & Light’s program to replace all 13,000 lead lines in its water system is now more than half complete. The BWL is ahead of schedule in its 10year program to replace every lead service line.
BWL customers who have questions about lead service lines can call our Customer Service Department at (517) 702-6006.
