Beverly Bishop concludes 45-year career; one of the longest careers on record at BWL
Executive Administrative Assistant Beverly Bishop was honored Tuesday for her 45-year career at the Lansing Board of Water & Light – one of the longest careers ever at the BWL.
General Manager J. Peter Lark joined the BWL’s Board of Commissioners in commending Bishop for more than four decades of dedicated, exemplary service. Bishop will retire on July 30.
“It is no exaggeration to say that Beverly Bishop is an institution in our company,” Lark said. “When she began work at the BWL, Lyndon Johnson was president, mankind would not set foot on the moon for another four years, and MSU’s football team was still months away from claiming the first of two consecutive national titles.
“Beverly has witnessed – and has been a part of – more than a third of the BWL’s 125-year history,” Lark added. “Throughout it all, her high degree of professionalism and peerless work ethic has been an inspiration,” Lark said.
At a Board of Commissioners meeting Tuesday, Bishop was presented a commemorative plaque by Lark and BWL commissioners.
Bishop will be honored at a company-wide reception on Thursday, July
29. Among her many community service contributions, Bishop has served as the BWL coordinator for volunteer assignments with Meals on Wheels.
In 1999, she joined NALS, the association for legal professionals. In April 2010, Bishop was installed as President of the Michigan Chapter of NALS.
