Lansing Board of Water & Light General
Manager J. Peter Lark today named Debi Allen as the new
Manager of the Eckert Power Plant and Moores Park Steam
Plant.
She is the first woman in the BWL’s
125-year history to have the top job in power plant
management, and one of very few females in Michigan to
oversee the operations of an electric generation plant.
“I am proud to promote Ms. Allen to one
of the top positions at the BWL,” said Lark. “Her work
experience and her work ethic have combined to make an
exemplary career at the BWL. I am certain she will
continue doing an excellent job as Manager of the
Eckert-Moores Park complex.”
Allen has been with the BWL since 1986,
holding a variety of jobs. In 1997, she completed an
apprenticeship to become one of the first women
apprentices in the Maintenance Department.
Most recently, she was the supervisor of
the Eckert plant.
The Eckert Power Plant is the largest
and oldest of the BWL’s two power plants. It has a
350-megawatt generating capacity.
The BWL is Michigan’s largest public
utility, serving more than 96,000 electric customers in
Greater Lansing.
