BWL concludes annual LED holiday light exchange
Due to popular demand and limited supply, the Lansing Board of Water & Light has ended its LED holiday light exchange for the 2011 holiday season.
The free light exchange began on Nov. 17. Within six working days, the entire stockpile of new LED holidays lights was given away to BWL customers.
During the exchange program, 1,500 strands of LED lights were given away to 750 BWL customers.
The annual program allows BWL residential electric customers to exchange up to two strands of working incandescent holiday lights for two strands of energy-efficient LED holiday lights.
LED (light emitting diodes) bulbs are brighter, last longer, and are up to 90 percent more energy efficient than incandescent lights.
“Once again, this annual program is exceedingly popular with our customers,” said BWL General Manager J. Peter Lark. “It’s our way of saying ‘Happy holidays’ in a way that’s easier on your pocketbook, and better for the environment.”
The BWL intends to conduct the LED holiday light exchange in 2012.
