The 17th Annual Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) Chili Cook-off will be held Saturday, June 2 from 4 – 9 p.m. at Lansing’s Adado Riverfront Park.

The BWL Chili Cook-off is a Lansing summertime tradition during which thousands of its fans descend on Adado Riverfront Park to devour more than 1,500 gallons of chili, participate in fun filled family activities, and listen to live bands that include Down Beat Groove and Glen Erin Pipe Band. The theme of this year’s event is “Rocking with the 80s”, a tribute to the 1980s.

Proceeds go to three local charitable and non-profit organizations: Impression 5 Science Center/Adopt A River, HOPE Scholarship Connections Program and the Sparrow Foundation.

In addition to purchasing tickets at the BWL Customer Service Center at 1232 Haco Drive, buyers can go online to www.lbwl.com and click on the BWL Chili Cook-off link. From there they will be directed through a convenient process for purchasing and printing their tickets. Paying for Chili Cook-off admission in advance earns attendees a significant price reduction over ticket prices at the gate.

Online ticket sales end June 1. These advance ticket prices are as follows:

  • Adults (ages 13 and over): $8.00
  • Children (ages 6-12): $3.00
  • Children under 6: free

Ticket prices at the gate on the day of the event are as follows:

  • Adults (ages 13 and over): $12.00
  • Children (ages 6-12): $5.00
  • Children under 6: free
