With the help of the BWL Hometown Energy Savers® program, you can purchase energy efficient lighting and appliances at reduced prices from participating retailers. Please note, some lighting products may not be available at all retailers at certain times throughout the year.

Customers can conveniently dispose of burnt-out light bulbs at many area locations. Turning in old light bulbs for proper recycling is good for the environment.

Increasing your home’s energy efficiency could require a contractor to make improvements such as adding new insulation, windows, or heating and cooling systems.

Participating Residential Contractors are familiar with the Hometown Energy Savers® Residential program, have completed at least one project through the program, and have agreed to comply with the program's guidelines. The BWL does not endorse any particular contractor or their products within these programs.

THINK! ENERGY TAKE ACTION! school program – a 45 to 60 minute interactive, hands-on presentation with a take home energy efficiency kit for each participating student and teacher. The program teaches the importance of energy and environmental resources.

For a limited time, grants of up to $3,000 are available for nonprofit organizations to make energy efficiency improvements to single family homes that they rent or are rehabilitating to sell to residents with limited incomes. This will allow the residents to save on utility bills. Examples of improvements that may qualify for a grant include high efficiency lighting, air conditioning, controls, and certain appliances. Applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted or May 31, 2017, whichever occurs first.

These programs provide incentives to customers who wish to make qualified efficiency improvements to their businesses with both custom and prescriptive offerings.

For a limited time, grants of up to $5,000 are available for energy efficiency improvements in facilities owned or leased by qualifying nonprofit organizations. Funds may be used to make capital improvements that reduce operating costs and save on utility bills such as upgrading lighting, controls, appliances and heating and cooling equipment. Applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted or March 31, 2017, whichever occurs first.
