Electrification Programs
Many of your everyday home appliances and equipment are also available in an electric version! While you may be familiar with electric vehicles, there’s a wide array of household and commercial items with electric counterparts.
Depending on the type of switch you are looking to make, there are many ways electric energy can improve your home or business’s environment. Whether you choose a lawn mower, e-bike or induction stove, you can be sure you're decreasing emissions and increasing your health.
Electrification Rebates
Rebate Details
Central Air-Source Heat Pump Systems
- A pre-inspection is required to receive a Central ASHP rebate. Applications received without a pre-inspection code will not be processed. To schedule a pre-inspection, please contact the Hometown Energy Savers program at (800) 573-3503.
- Must replace a gas furnace.
- Must have a SEER2 ≥ 15.2, and an HSPF2 ≥ 7.8
- Manual J is required and must be submitted with application to receive rebate.
Central ASHP System Replacing Gas Furnace AND Central AC System
$4,000 rebate. Limit one rebate per residential account.
- SEER2 15.2, HSPF2 7.8
Central Air-Source Heat Pump System Replacing Gas Furnace Only
$5,000 rebate. Limit one rebate per residential account.
- SEER2 15.2, HSPF2 7.8
Heat Pump Water Heater
$1,000 rebate. Limit one rebate per residential account.
- Must be ENERGY STAR® certified.
- 3.0 UEF.
$300 - $500 rebate. Limit one rebate per residential account. Must submit a copy of proof of purchase (receipt or invoice). In addition to e-bike bike requirements, income eligible rebate applicants must qualify for the program by meeting the income requirements listed below.
- All three levels of e-bike qualify:
- Class 1: an electrical assisted bicycle equipped with a motor that aids only when the rider is pedaling and that ceases to provide assistance when the bicycle reaches a speed of 20 m.p.h.
- Class 2: an electrical assisted bicycle equipped with a motor that aids regardless of whether the rider is pedaling but ceases to provide assistance when the bicycle reaches a speed of 20 m.p.h.
- Class 3: an electrical assisted bicycle equipped with a motor that aids only when the rider is pedaling and that ceases to provide assistance when the bicycle reaches a speed of 28 m.p.h.
- E-bike must have a minimum one-year manufacturer warranty.
- Battery must be UL 2849 certified.
- E-bike must have two or three wheels and have operable pedals.
- Motor must be 750 watts or less and not powered by gas.
- No kits or adaptations to existing mountain bikes allowed.
Income-Qualified Requirements
Rebate up to $500, not to exceed the purchase price of the E-bike.
HOW TO APPLY
- Confirm your household meets the income guidelines in the table HERE.
- Verify you have received a Home Energy Visit from BWL in the past 3 years, or schedule one by calling 800-573-3503.
- Provide a copy of required household income documentation shown below with completed application.
Income Documentation Requirements
- Submit number of household members.
- Submit income documentation for each household member 18+ receiving income.
- Documents can be a recent paystub, W2, current Social Security letter, etc.
- Documentation must show the name, address, and pay period.
- Personal information such as social security numbers or account numbers should be blacked out.
- If income verification is not received within 30 business days of application, the rebate will be provided at the standard rebate level.
Rebates are only available for installations in new homes and for replacement of existing natural gas or propane fueled equipment. Only valid on purchases of new equipment. Refurbished, used, or open box equipment are not eligible for rebates.
Induction Cooktop
$300 rebate. Limit one rebate per residential account.
- Both standalone cooktops and ranges with built-in induction cooktops are eligible.
- Induction cooktop must include no less than three elements.
Heat Pump Clothes Dryer
$300 rebate. Limit one rebate per residential account.
- Must be ENERGY STAR® certified.
$20 - $100 rebate. Limit one rebate per item per residential account.
- Rebate is only available for new equipment; reconditioned equipment is not eligible.
- Rebates apply to cordless battery models only.
- Dual battery models can count the voltage of both batteries.
Battery Requirements
- Riding Lawn Mower - 50V minimum
- Push Lawn Mower – 36V minimum
- String Trimmer – 40V minimum
- Chainsaw – 40V minimum
- Leaf Blower – 40V minimum
$20 - $1,000 rebate. Limit one rebate per item per account. Only commercial accounts are eligible for these rebates. Rebate may not exceed purchase price.
- Rebate is only available for new equipment; reconditioned equipment is not eligible.
- Rebates apply to cordless battery models only.
- Dual battery models can count the voltage of both batteries.
Battery Requirements
- Riding Lawn Mower – 50V minimum
- Push Lawn Mower – 36V minimum
- String Trimmer – 40V minimum
- Chainsaw – 800Wh of battery capacity
- Leaf Blower – 800Wh of battery capacity
$5,000 rebate. Limit two forklifts per account. Only commercial accounts are eligible for these rebates.
- New items only; no retrofits.
- Must be the first electric forklift purchased by the company OR replacing an existing, fossil fuel powered forklift.
- Forklift lifting capacity must be equal to or greater than 3,000 lbs.
- Forklift must have either a Lead Acid Battery or a Lithium Ion Battery.
