Print Shop - Connecting Our Customers
Posted
Efficient, precise, quality – three words that really describe the BWL’s Print Shop. From printing and designing brochures for the community, to massive blueprints for our power plant staff, our Print Shop team makes it happen.
This team of four–Michelle, Ray, Ashley and Calen – work hard to keep our customers informed and connected to their public power utility. From designing, branding, printing, inventorying and distributing print jobs across the company, there is always a project to complete. In fact, over 730,000 print jobs are done annually for BWL and its customers proving that print is still an important communications tool in an increasingly digital world.
The Print Shop runs many different projects for BWL including brochures, door hangers, labels, notebooks, blueprints and so much more. They serve as our bridge to connect customers to the information and resources they need. While you can visit BWL’s website to view many of these resources, we find it important to meet customers where they are whether that’s visiting Lansing City Hall, attending one of our Community Resource Fairs or paying your bill at Haco Customer Service Center. The Print Shop is a key partner in keeping tangible information in the hands of our customers. Some of the most notable resources include the BWL Customer Guide, Energy Assistance Guide and the How to Read Your Bill Guide which help customers better understand their utilities and provide ways to find help if they need it.
The Print Shop also plays an important part in building trust with our customers by producing the door hangers, post cards and notification letters customers may get when BWL is working in their area, like tree trimming, water main replacement and planned outages. As one of the most direct communication points we have with customers, we rely on the Print Shop team to share updates about customer billing programs like Distributed Generation, Pennies for Power or Greenwise.
When asked what they enjoy about their jobs, they all responded with, “Seeing the final product.” Starting with a project just on the screen to then having it in your hands is something they’re all very proud of.
Whether its materials for internal or external customers, Print Shop is there to make ideas come to life and produce high quality pieces for the Greater Lansing community.
