BWL to Celebrate 26th Annual Adopt A River on Saturday

May 10, 2019 10:03 AM

Hundreds of volunteers will come to help make Lansing even more beautiful by cleaning up the Grand and Red Cedar rivers along the 10.2 mile Lansing River Trail and planting native pollinators. Admission to Impression 5 Science Center is free on Saturday to those who register and participate in the clean-up. This year’s kid-friendly environmental fair will showcase exhibitors including Potter Park Zoo, Fenner Nature Center, the BWL’s Peregrine Falcon Program and many more. In addition, free native trees and shrubs will be given away, as well as a potting station for kids to plant flowers for Mother’s Day.

This year’s schedule for Adopt A River is as follows:

* 9am Registration opens
* 9am–12pm Clean-up
* 11am–1pm Lunch
* 11am–4pm Environmental Fair

Since Adopt A River’s inception, volunteers have cleared literally tons of litter and the program has earned statewide awards for river stewardship. It has also served as a model for similar river-awareness programs in Michigan. For more information or to pre-register, go to http://www.impression5.org
